Lando Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has beaten his teammate at all of the past five race weekends.
Lando Norris edged out fellow driver and title rival Oscar Piastri for the top spot in the closing stages of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who grabbed the championship lead from his teammate by one point after winning in Mexico City two weeks ago, beat the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren during the running before the sprint shootout scheduled for 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in the points battle, lying with a 36-point deficit Norris, ended up in 17th place as his Red Bull team opted for a different programme.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to have an incident, though minor, when he rotated at corner four soon after starting.
Tsunoda lost control over the track edges before rotating through the escape zone, and was blessed to get away with just a minor contact of the barrier.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the final moments of the practice, rotating twice through the quick descending Mergulho turn leading to the final corner on to the pit straight.
The seven-time champion wrapped up in 19th place, just behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were significantly quicker of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber in third, over half a second slower than the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Bortoleto ahead of the Mercedes of Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
